Not that I really give a sh1t ..... but why is it teams like Tottingham try hard to qualify to get in it, and then, twelve months later when they're in it, play weakened sides so they can get knocked out, so they can concentrate on qualifying to get into it for next season?

Premiershite? No thanks.

And Tottenham are highly likely to be in it next year already aren't they?

Even if they lose the Carling Cup on Sunday, Utd will qualify for Europe next season either by winning the league, winning the Champions League, winning the FA cup, or the the way they're playing right now, - possibly all 4 !

Do the losers of the Carling Cup go into the UEFA Cup if the winners qualify elsewhere?

No you have to win the Carling Cup to qualify for Europe, if United win it, whoever finishes 6th in the league will qualify.

Redknapp has done the right thing. Spurs have a bad enough record against Utd as it is without fielding a knackered side on Sunday.

The reality for Spurs, as Redknapp has recognised, is that when you start W0 D2 L6 the season is almost certainly a write-off, and risking trying to win 2 cups will almost certainly mean winning none.

I'm sure the Newcastle fans would LOVE to write-off Europe in order to focus on a League Cup final...

It's a difficult decision for Harry Redknapp to make, same with Martin O'Neill, I personally think they both made the right decision, Villa can't afford any destractions, that's reality. To finish 4th in the Prem would be a major achievement, and they need to concentrate on that, Arsenal being in the CL is a major help for Villa imo. Tottenham just need to concentrate on staying in the league, fact!

It's a shame for those of us who watch, and those of us who like Spurs, but you can't have everything.

As I've said before the team we put out last night, was easily good enough to beat Shaktar 2-0, our performance proved that but it wasn't to be.
