i'm missing something here i guess, but how on earth can the group stage being put together this year for the first time be comprised of groups of 5 where each team plays two home and two away games?

that's got to be completely unfair hasn't it?

Is it so the groups will be enlarged when the Champions league finishes its first stage and the third place teams move to the UEFA cup ?

maybe....but the point i'm making is that although it's a group, the teams don't play home and away, it's a home or awy situation...crazy

I agree it does look strange

From the BBC website

Each club will play two matches at home and two away on the following dates: 21 October, 4 November, 25 November, 1/2 December and 15/16 December.

The winners, runners-up and third-placed clubs from each group will advance to the last 32 where they will then be joined by the eight third-placed clubs from the Champions League group stage.

The competition will then revert to a two-leg knock-out format.

You could get the harder teams are home and the weaker away or vice versa, does appear unfair
