Surely they wouldn't have decided on the ref at this point anyway?
I thought they usually sorted it out fairly close to the game, so that they don't appoint someone who's national team are in the final. Never likely to happen with Meier, admittedly, but I'm surprised if they've already announced the officials. It's also to help them avoid controversial refs from earlier matches, like Meier.
Collina gets all the big games, so knowing UEFA, they will try and give another, less capable, official a chance. I reckon that giraffe- necked gimp from Denmark, Kim Milton Neilson will get the nod.
Or Anders Frisk, who's way too fussy for my liking.

I maybe wrong but didn't Frisk do the 2000 final? Given that it's Collina's last Championship I think he may get it.

I think it would be great if Collina could bow out on a high by reffing the final. Ursa Major can sod off - he's got no chance.
Everyone talks about the fact that Collina is a great ref (which of course is true), but all he does is watch the game, understands the mindset of the players, and applies the rules accordingly. Is there REALLY only one ref in all of Europe who can do this? Is that REALLY so difficult to do? Even if 50,000 pairs of eyes are watching you, waiting for you to f*** up.
Frisk is a tart, a bit too much in love with himself, although not THAT bad a ref. But don't get me started on that Danish twat. Beckham's red card in 98 aside, that bloke is SERIOUSLY useless.

They like to give it to a ref whos team is in the last 8. This will rule out Collina. However they will want someone who they belive is a strong ref. Meire is rated very highly by UEFA and was always a contender. However following the England game they are belived to have ruled him out of the final.

I read somewhere that this is the only major final that Collina has not reffed. it's also the last chance he will get because he will have retired before the next Euros. He is easily the best and most respected ref in football today, why not let him have it?
