Leeds pair look bound for Chelsea
Leeds United youngsters Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods have turned down the offer of a scholarship deal at Elland Road and look set to sign for Chelsea.

The highly-rated duo were among 12 players offered the deals by Leeds.

Executive officer Shaun Harvey said: "They've been released and are on trial at Chelsea. If they do sign for another club, we are entitled to compensation."

However, midfielder Danny Rose, 15, has turned down an offer from Chelsea and signed a two-year deal at Leeds.

Potentially they will work with some of the best coaches in the world, although first team chances will be limited. I would have stuck with leeds, or if good enough gone to somewhere like Man City, or Spurs. Both teams willing to give youngsters a runout and have decent facilities.

ps I thought this was going to be a "slag McGhee off" thread. Phew!!

young Players seem to think its all about the money, that kid sinclair who chelsea payed 250k for wont get a look in at chelsea if he stayed at Bristol he would be playing first team football by now and could of worked his way up like that.

You can't blame them, but it is very foolish. One wonders if some of these cases are due to sweet talking agents looking for a good cut, or pressure from the family to start getting some money in.

If I was in the same situation, although difficult to judge. I would rather be playing football than cleaning some rich boys boots.

Thats the thing - maybe they should cap young players wages?>

Very true. Not enough is done by the FA to protect young prospects, plus it may well curb bad behaviour and how many young players have died in car crashes??? Alot!

Thats true - altho saying its all due to bad behaviour would be a tad harsh.

Maybe a forced ban everytime they do something wrong? then again its there life isnt it?

It is there life. You have to question whether they have enough guidance. More often than not, they might from deprived backgrounds and leave school early, then get a stack load of money compared to a lot of people in those situations.

True thats why the wage cap may be a good idea - or even put the money into trust untill they are 21 - and give them a % of it as a wage

Excellent idea. The clubs and the FA must protect them. Although you will invariably end up with a Chelsea buying their parents a house or something...
But what will the FA do? FA
