Twitter shares increase by 75% on NYSE

Twitter shares have jumped 75% today on initial trading (probably more by now) from their IPO value of $26.00 to $45.10 on the New York Stock Exchange. Easy money if you could buy any - But will it last?

wasn't IPO only available to institutions? They take easy money all the time. A better first day than facebook.

I think so - and UK investors could not buy them before the flotation

The vast majority was to Institutions but not all. Those Institutions that 'guaranteed' not to sell quickly in the aftermarket & create volatility were given preference. Those that didn't agree & the public got so few that selling up immediately would not bring vast wealth, again cutting back 'stagging' sales and therefore getting it away if a far more orderly fashion than Facebook
