Joint 286th at £500m and apparently a re-entry, although I don't recall our secretive head honcho being on this list before.

You'd imagine if you've sunk the best part of £500m into a football club, you're probably worth at least double that, right?

I'm also not sure that football is one of the sources of his wealth, it's more a source of a loss of wealth.

I’d take these rich lists with a pinch of salt. Good to see we are above Spurs in this list and in the league table as well. Are we massive yet? lol

It’s almost impossible to find out. Tony Bloom is basically only a UK company director of the Albion , some charities and housing association.

He tends to use holding companies and dare I say it some offshoring to conceal his interests I believe

Joe Lewis owns 70% of ENIC which in turn owns 86% of Spurs. Levy owns the other 30% of ENIC. He's on the list because of the money he's made out of Spurs and ENIC rather than any money he's put in...

The majority of people on that list are only on it because they want to be, with far richer people not appearing at all if they don't want to. Which is why TB hasn't been on there before IIRC (or seeing re-entry, maybe once or twice) despite being way beyond the criteria for years.

Unfortunately, with the rise of the Albion, some junior has obviously said 'well I read that Tony Bloom has spent £250M on Brighton' and someone slightly less junior has replied 'well if that's public knowledge, better stick him in there then, say £500M'. It's just a long list of wild guesses.

If you've got properties, businesses and investments, chances are you don't know how much you're worth. There is no way that TB knows, let alone the Sunday Times :lolol:

Some people don't even tell their partners what they are worth. Knew a guy who agreed a divorce settlement with his wife for £1.2m and she was very happy with that, based on the assets she knew about. There was a lot she didn't know about.

No, he hasn't been on it before. In fact, I happen to know he has been very happy to be left off. As for his money coming from football, don't make me laugh. 'Property and investments' is his preferred description of the source of his wealth. Well, betting is a sort of investment, isn't it?.

This list is almost worthless anyway as most of it is put together by interns and work experience kids. Why would a rich person want anyone else to know how much they had?
