Tranmere brought hardley any fans, that would explain the low attendence.

I think that away teams should be made to buy the away allication and if they don't sell them then its there tuff luck, or if they know that only a 100 or so will travel down then say that so that the club can sell some of them seats to home fans

True, the NE stand was basically empty, but even so an attendance that low is worrying & could be picked up by the anti-falmer brigade:angry:

they couldnt sell the seats 2 home fans they had avalible so there's no point worrying about the others.it really is disapointing that we r 5th in the league granted we havant been playing fantastically and it is a poor division but with the great home record we've got u think we'd b getting resonable gates :drink:

Remember it was bitterly cold & an away team from 300 miles away, midweek.

With better forward planning & communication, I am sure we could have filled 'U' block & the remainder of the away end with 'pay-on-the-gate' fans?

It was the seemingly empty directors box that i found puzzling????

What's happened to all those "fans"who complained that they couldn't get tickets during the championship-winning seasons?Have they already turned their backs on the team because of last season?Fair-weather band-wagon jumping wankers

Errr... a tad harsh I feel.

We had 6k, I don't see that as a big problem. There was plenty of no shows among Tranmere (hardly suprising) and a few among the ST holders.

We have a best-worst swing of about 600 people, that's insignificant in statistical terms. Look at other teams whose gates vary by thousands.

The market for those few hundred seats that don't get allocated to ST holders has shrunk because they have been put off by past ticket unavailability and are generally doing other things with their leisure time right now.

Football is, I find, a difficult thing to dip in and out of. You either go to most games or you probably don't bother. We have plenty of fans who have probably drifted away from active support for the team and are just not aware that tickets are available, or if they are, can't motivate themselves to get back involved given their estrangement. It's the tragedy of poxy Withdean.

It will all change with Falmer. Then the "Fair-weather band-wagon jumping wankers" will gradually get back involved, catch the bug again and probably be the next wave of ST holders taking us up to 10,000 ST holders.

So I'm not inclined to slag these people off, they are the next wave of development for the club and our future relies on us getting them, and then moving into completely virgin territory of getting people along to Falmer who have never even been within a mile of a football ground.

My brother was sitting in the North Stand. A steward told him that Tranmere only sold 54 tickets prior to the game this evening. OK a few more turned up on the night but the away end was desolate!

Maybe the club needs to make it easier to buy tickets on the evening? (The Brentford end was the same).

Maybe some of our supporters have been spoilt with the success of recent seasons, and they'd rather watch Arsenal on the Telly. (I'm led to believe that Arsenal are the new Man United!)

OK, Withdean has a poor atmosphere and the seats are not cheap but I think you will find that 5th in the second division is still pretty high in our overall history not just recent!

We will get better gates on Saturdays!

Can anyone tell me why that report says "Bizarrely, the scoresheet aped that of the 3-0 win over Bournemouth here 11 days ago."

'Bizarrely'? 'Coincidently', perhaps, or I could even live with 'strangely.' I don't think it is bizarre though.

If we had a pay on the gate availability for the remainder of the tickets we would definately sell more and probably fill the ground ,but as it is we dont get the fair weather or last minute whim fans becuase they cant be bothered to plan in advance for a game ...i hope this does not impede the gates at falmer if and when we get it ..It is a shame that the club cant make tickets avaliable on the day or night of game

I think a lot of people assume that every game is sold out and don't even bother trying to get tickets anymore. Perhaps we should do more to encourage our friends, colleagues and family that tickets are available for certain games. If there is an announcement on the official website I circulate this around the office

Bitterly cold winters night
Champions league on the telly
£21 a ticket
No away fans
Crap facilities
No pay on the day walk up trade
People tiring of the Withdean experience.

How many reasons do you want?

I understood that there are only 1,000 tickets for each game on sale to albion fans. A lot of the empty seats must be due to season ticket holders not turning out. If thats the case the club still gets the money.

Anyone know how many of the tickets available to non season ticket holders were sold?

I certainly know people who don't have season tickets (due to, for instance, commitments to saturday league/mid sussex teams, or work), but would jump at the chance to get to a midweek game - one of those came with us last night, but many don't - the club know of this problem, but in terms of press and the like, don't seem to be doing a lot to rectify it

People need to know there are tickets available!

although a swing of 600 is insignificant number wise it represents £12,000. To a club that is cash strapped it is hardly insignificant. I also don't buy the excuse that the majority missing will be season ticket holders not turning up. Even if it were 10% (which I consider very unlikely) of the ticket holders not going that would still mean 500 potential cash payers not going which means £10k lost revenue.

All the valid reasons Simster gave above just didn't happen for the first four seasons at Withdean, and there have been several poor away followings during that time, but we were permanently at near full capacity.

If we are to continue at withdean for a further 2-3 seasons the club need to do much more to sell the extra seats or the cash situation will get even worse, especially when the season ticket renewal money is gone by the end of the summer. Kevin keehan and co need to start earning their keep or someone better equiped should be employed.
