We seem to be playing Spurs and Palace again remarkably soon!
Yep very weird that isn't it. About six weeks between both games, whereas 8 months between our games v Man Utd.

Update after last night. No change, still 10 over, 3 under Europe. As boring as the West Ham football team. Not seen a home play that negatively for a long time. Well okay Palace the other day. But at least they showed a small amount of attacking intent!

League table update. Interesting to note West Ham are a bit further away than in the proper league table, and Liverpool are clear at the top. Brentford still in the mire.

Still within touching distance of last season but need a very good second half to the season again.

Happens most seasons there is at least 1 team we play both matches against very close together. Last season it didn't happen cause of the mid-season World Cup but in 2021-22 we played Chelsea on December 29th and then again on January 18th. Previous season it was Fulham, we went there on December 16th then the home game was 27th Jan.

19-20 season we played Sheffield United on Dec 21st and Feb 22nd, we had an even shorter turn around against Bournemouth when we played them on Dec 28th and Jan 21st.

Do you think the computer splits them but then jigs some closer together because of Christmas. That is, swaps in the more local one over a more northern one. Maybe Spurs or Palace was swapped in instead of Man Utd?

I don't think it's anything other than coincidence we've nearly always had a local match for a vast majority of these quick turn around in the reverse fixture taking place.

Take for example this season, the reverse fixtures from the game week we played Palace away in December will take place again on weekend of 3/4/5th Feb. They include Everton vs Spurs, Burnley vs Fulham, Newcastle vs Luton, Man Utd vs West Ham and Arsenal vs Liverpool. It also includes Brentford vs Man City, the reverse fixture at Man City was due to take place that week we were away to Palace but was postponed because of City playing in the World Club Cup.

None of those would be considered local so I think it's just an anomaly of the fixture computer that we seem to always get a localish match.

Is it strange that we are 7th, yet 5 points behind the European tracker?

What league position does 60 points normally get you?

In short yes. It suggests a fall down the actual league table is to come unless we can beat a few of the bigger teams (which to be fair we are better at doing).

Current track league table has us 12th, but very tight indeed 7th - 12th.
