Getting towards the end of a football season, I would often play four games in a week while holding down a full time job and having to have quite a few nights out, drinks, kebabs, etc.

My level of play never suffered - I wasn't that good in the first place!

I find it extremely hard to feel sorry for someone being a bit tired when they earn the disgusting amount of money they do.
I do a physically and mentally draining job day in, day out, for a fraction of what they earn, as do millions of others out there.

Who’s telling you to feel sorry for them?

I think the point the OP is making is that people seem to think because they’re paid loads of money it suddenly makes them invincible Demi-gods, physically incapable of ever being tired.

I was thinking about this during the Burnley game....regardless of how fit you are, or how much you earn, it's a pretty punishing schedule - and no wonder some of them looked a bit off the pace. Of course we shouldn't feel sorry for them, but this season (esp the December/Jan/Feb part) is incredibly gruelling. Add to that, there's very little time for the manager and coaches to prepare the game plan, communicate tactics, etc, or for the players to practice game-specific set-ups or routines.

In the light of all this, there will almost certainly be some wholesale changes for Wednesday. Should see the likes of Tau, Moder, Walton, Propper (if fit), Zeqiri (perhaps), maybe even Karbownik.

Very true, we often forget about the unseen people behind the scenes. The logistics behind what goes on needs a lot of organising.
