The club need to capture the moment by getting these seats up and running for the beginning of next season.

The extra 2000 seats will be useful revenue but more importantly a chance for more of the floating fans who turned up yesterday to recapture the live footy habit.

Valid points, yes. But no more valid than the exact same points that were made 2 years ago. EVERYONE knows Withdean is too small, that 2,000 extra seats will help, and that the problem is with the P&R site placement. Even the club.

Many fans would like 2,000 extra seats. However, it doesn't matter now. WHen Prescott announces his decision - either way - then it will matter. A 'yes' will prove that Withdean IS temporary so expansion critics will lose this as an argument. A 'no' will make 2,000 seats vital for keeping the club alive for another year or two.

Surely the point is, irrespective of Falmer, we need to get as many of yesterday's 'fans' into the ground to rediscover the fun of live football as soon as we can.

If the P&R issue can be sorted the 2k new seats can increase that opportunity next season - Falmer can't do that for another 2 or 3 years.

Would be very suprised if we ever get the 2,000 extra seats in at Withdean.

The club were advised by the council committee due to vote on it that the Carden Avenue park and ride would "most likely" not get approved - now labour has lost it's majority on that committee I gather

Thus the club have withdrawn their application for park & ride at Carden Avenue on the "understanding" that the head of the appropiate council committee will find the club another site for the park & ride needed for the 2,000 extra seats to be put in

As the Falmer decision nears the club and council want to be seen to be presenting a united public front and would not want a "no" vote by the couincil committee to be seen by anyone as evidence that the club and the council have "fallen out"

Also at this stage all the NIMBYS and AOB campaigners would no doubt say that 2,000 extra seats is the answer to all our problems and proves Withdean can be developed and we do not need Falmer etc etc

Have to say I think the club are right on this one to be playing the "long game"

We need to all concentrate continuing to go "all out" on the Falmer camapign - all the banners yesterday were SUPERB

When Falmer approved ( and all threats of judicial reviews etc out of the way ) then is a business decision re best use of cash on the 2,000 extra seats or towards Falmer - I would guess as they would cost £1m to put in we would need to get three years use out of them for it to be economic - thus even if we get another park & ride sorted - if Falmer is a year or two away at that point we may not go ahead with them

Assuming McGhee can establish us in the First Division then getting the finance for Falmer should be quicker as well - this could reduce the "yes" from Prescott to Flamer opening by up to a year at a guess

If the unthinkable happens and Falmer is a no decision then the 2,000 extra seats are a definite must as god knows how long we might need them for!!!
