Three*Bridges enjoyed a night to remember as they knocked Albion Under-21s out of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup.
Sam MacVicar’s ninth goal of the season nine minutes from time sealed a tremendous 2-1 comeback victory for Ryman south hosts Bridges in this second round clash.
Paul Faili’s side trailed from the tenth minute when Daniel Akindayini fired Albion in front after pouncing on a defensive error.
Akindayini, who was an unused substitute for the first team at Burnley last Sunday, was a thorn in the side of the hosts throughout the first half. He volleyed inches wide and then had a shot blocked in the space of two minutes, then later in the first half fired past a post after going through one-on-one.
Akindayini had a chance to extend the lead after racing clear on 65 minutes but failed to take the chance and the young Seagulls were punished nine minutes later when a diving header by Ben Godfrey from Steve Sargent’s corner made it 1-1.
Albion responded with a shot from distance by James Tilley clipping the outside of a post.
On 81 minutes MacVicar smashed home after the ball break to him in the box and Bridges held on thanks in part to a great save by Kieron Thorp to deny Akindayini in stoppage time.
Three Bridges: Thorp, Mobsby, Daniel (sub Casselman 46), Sargent, Brake, Crellin, Pulling (sub Lansdale 46), Godfrey, MacVicar, Adelakun, Whitehead. Subs not used: Otobo, Carney, Jones.
Albion: Doherty, Hunt, Dallison, Barclay, Starkey; Tighe (sub Ward 82), Molumby, Hutchinson (sub Tilley 63), Akindayini, Harper (sub Harris 56), Monakana. Subs not used: Deen, Sanchez.
