Grrrrr....

That'll teach me to get money out a cashpoint in Croydon. Lloyds TSB, George Street, thank you for asking.

Some thieving pikey bastid cloned my Visa card details on Wednesday, went on an unclassy spending spree on Thursday til the card was frozen and I only discovered it this morning.

Fair play to NatWest. Called them up and they were good as gold. They're refunding all the transactions and I'll have a new card in 3-5 days. Even better news news is the thieving c unt still has to live in Croydon. Haha. I win!

How was your card cloned in a Lloyds C/P, unless the machine been tampered with ? Just curious, it looks like NatWest froze the card without your knowledge, did they do that by spending pattern or something ?

NatWest did freeze it without my knowledge. Presumably by spending pattern. They obviously KNOW that I don't tend to buy shit from Office Shoes and Carphone Warehouse during working hours on a Thursday. Or indeed ever. Believe me, it took all the inner strength I could muster not to openly snigger at the transaction-by-transaction details of pikey's shitty little spending spree the Anti-Fraud fella reeled off to me over the phone.

That's pretty good of them - but I guess they know what to look for. I presume it's in their interest to sport it a soon as possible, as if it went on for a few days, sorting out the after-mess of legal/illegal transactions would be a bit of a nightmare for them. At least you won't lose out.

Bearing in mind the location, I'd have thought normal banking procedure might include disinfecting as well as freezing.

Smart bit of spending pattern software there tho eh?

Unless of course they just routinely block any card transactions made in Croydon during office hours

More than likely someone else reported it on their card and they back-tracked and found the point of compramise and blocked every card that was there in that period with the same spend.

If they had clever systems it would automatically decline non-chip and pin charges in the UK, as any clone will always be swiped.

I know people who have had their cards cloned at Lloyds-TSB ATM's in Taunton and in Birmingham so presumably there is someone producing a skimming kit specifically to blend in with that design of ATM. I believe it comprises a skimming device that goes inside the card reader slot and a video camera which sticks on a false fascia to record as you enter your PIN

Cos after I took fifty quid out of there every transaction from that point on, til the card was frozen by the bank, was for trashy goods in that shitty town.

did you see anything odd on the machine or a shifty looking bloke hanging around pretending to be on the phone?

The Lloyds ATMs in North Street and West Street were done before Xmas too, you could still see the glue on the former. Best advice is to check the card reader and if moving don't use, also cover over the numbers with a newspaper or your hand when typing in your PIN.

Sorry to hear that Woss. I f***ing hate Croydon is really is a spectacular shithole. I have told my currently employer I will not consider a contract extension if it means 4 days a week in Croydon as I do now. I take it this was the bank next to Nero's ? There is no where decent there, even to have a lunch, unless you want a Chinese buffet. I have had to go in to the office this morning to help formulize an action plan re Japanese cat losses it is full of unpleasant, unambitious low lives. And where do they all go for a great day out at any given opportunity......?????

Funnily enough I had my card cloned in Croydon a few months back on one of the quick pay machines in Argos on George St. Co-op spotted it straight away and phoned me to check and then stopped the card.

They wont like it when their first subscription issue of Caravanning Monthly doesn't plop onto the doormat.
