Surely one of the coolest "supergroups" ever:

Them+Crooked+Vultures.jpg

L - R: John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters)

New album Them Crooked Vultures out very soon/now.

Really good hard 70's tinged rock. Get stuck in.

Personnel-wise they are, but result-wise they don't really build on the potential sum of their (hairy) parts. I got the feeling they were having much more fun on stage than anyone in the crowd, although they were drumming to the converted, so it was a close thing. The record is the same sorta thing. They're good, but if you're into the Death Metal/Foo schtick you're not going to find anything new.

And Josh Homme is one of the funniest blokes ever.

I've never heard reference to the Foo Fighters and Death Metal in the same CENTURY before, let alone sentence. From first impressions I reckon there's some tunes on the album. Bit self indulgent in parts.

Well my two fav bands are the Foos and Queens of the stone age. Them Crooked Vultures tick all the right boxes musically for me altohugh I do agree nothing new, what they do, they do bloody well and I can't wait for the album.

I think he is refering to the band eagles of death metal as opposed to death metal as a genre

I meant Eagles of Death Metal. It is a good album, I'm just not quite sure of the point of it. Mind you in the light of Martha Wainwright releasing an Edith Piaf album and Jarvis doing a glam-rock LP it's not all that odd.

There is a free download avaialble at iTunes right now, Mind Eraser, No Chaser, if you want a listen.

I think they will be huge, I have tickets to see them in both Portsmouth and London in December and I can't wait.

Them Crooked Seagulls weren't bad either ;-)
