Now I know we’re all in agreement that “The X-Files” is the best show in the history of television. A couple of trolls will pretend they don’t like it for laughs, but we can disregard those.

What is everyone’s favourite episode and why?

I’m going to go with “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” personally. An extraordinary 45 minutes of television cinema.

I've actually never seen a single full episode of X Files as far as I can remember. Not a fan of science fiction though prefer it to elves and dwarves and that kind of shit.

Is it good as a show? 98% of all shows made pre-Sopranos are entirely unwatchable today.

When it first started I think "Tooms" was my favourite. But as the series progressed and evolved my favourites became "Dreamland" and "Bad Blood"

I imagine it looks pretty dated now doesn't it? I watched a bit of The Empire Strikes Back t'uther day and it looked sadly clunky, naff dialogue, poor acting, effects showing their age, a classic of its time laid bare by the ravages of time.

Maybe they could do an X-Files reboot and give some work to starving actors Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch as Molder and Scully.

I'm not nerdy enough to remember any of the episode titles, but I LOVED that show, back in the day. It was amazing for a few years, although it did decline quite badly in the end. Maybe the Eugene Tooms episode? That was a good one.

I had the biggest crush on David Duchovny in my late teens  Now, not so much.

All of the series with Mulder and Scully are brilliant. After that I found it unwatchable. So, yes, fill your boots.

I'll start watching again from the beginning at some point, but I will definitely skip the episode where the hillbillies mother lives under the floorboards. That episode was too much for me.

Just started rewatching from S1. The early series were great, one that sticks in my memory I believe was called Tempus Fugit set on a crashing plane. A classic UFO abduction story which I feel are the real heart of the show as that is what drives Mulder in his investigations.

Being Swedish I imagine you're more into trolls, which some of the less welcolming NSCers might consider rather ironic

I'm almost done with what I thought was an X-Files rewatch, only to discover I really hadn't watched many episodes at all back in the day.

One episode I did remember and still ranks as probably my favourite for all the wrong reasons is 'Home', yes that one. X-Cops is another.

The Season 7 finale would have been the perfect place to leave it for Mulder and Scully, in my opinion. There are still some good episodes in Season 8 and 9 but they really did jump-the-shark in a big way with one particular storyline in 8 and by going too far down the Mulder/Scully romance storyline.

This (apart from the Duchovny crush...). Big fan, for a moment in time, but no idea what any specific episodes were called.

The Tooms episode scared the crap out of me when I first saw it, but like others I can't remember individual episodes and faded from watching it when it got too much on the alien side of things. Like Supernatural, I just enjoyed the spooky stories rather than the underlying themes.

Weirdly had a crush on Scully rather than Mulder.
