The Wedding Present

Delighted to see, to say the least, that the mighty reformed Wedding Present are doing their only warm-up gig for their European Tour at my stomping ground, the Forum, in Tunbridge Wells.

Who can forget 'Everyone Thinks He Looks Daft', 'Kennedy', 'Favourite Dress', 'Octopussy' etc. Erh, no doubt 95% of people on here!

Still, they remain one of my top ten bands of all time - and that's what counts.

So if you fancy seeing a fabulous, genuine, indie rock band in a delightful converted public toilet, then get down to the Kent/Sussex border on Monday 24th October.

...one of my prized posessions is a CD version of the Wedding Present Ukrainian Sessions, took me years of trying to find a copy, reluctant to let it out of my sight!

They asked my mate to be their drummer.
He drummed with them on the John Peel BBC radion tribute but couldnt commit to touring as he had just got a new flat in Brighton with his mrs. Geek.

Dave Gedge was seeing my sisters best mate for a few years. She was the one in Cinerama. They came round one Christmas, but I thought it would be a bit too cheeky to ask him to sign all my records. :jester:

Still got all the 7-inch one a month singles from 1992 somewhere.

Best track for me was Kennedy

I know nothing about their music, but got George Best to sign the album cover when he played a friendly match in Newhaven about 17 years ago. Bowles also played.

The Forum - Tunbridge Wells, what a venue.

We saw the Holy Barbarians (Ian Asbury of the Cult Solo band) do a set there a few years ago.

Came to an abrupt halt when Vic Reeves got on stage with them and fell on the drum kit.

Went to school in Wadhurst and strangely miss getting drunk in Tunbridge Wells.

Have Cinerama disbanded now then? I thought they were fantastic, Torino is total class

Cinerama lost one member, who was going out with Gedgy at the time I believe, and then continued with a new member as a re-formed Wedding Present. Not a great deal of difference between the two.

Clapham Gull, glad you have enjoyed times at The Forum, 13 years on and it's still going strong - probably the longest running independent, non-gov/council funded venue in the Country. We are incredibly proud of the place and all look forward to the next 13 years - although we will all probably be deaf by then......
