Isn't "The Body Shop" a little conspicuous by its absence ? I thought old Anita well well into ecology and that kind of thing.

Hornby. I don't think so. They now are simply a packaging plant in Ramsgate, and their products are now made in the far east.

When this happened they laid off 200 workers, and it is cheaper to import their trains and Scalextric from China.

There's a company called 'Ecover' on there. Presumably no relation (no 't') to the dandy highwaymen well into ripping off the the town in general and the Albion in particular :salute:

It was from a press release I got (don't know why it was sent to me).

Here's the blurb describing how the list came about:

The newly formed Ethical Company Organisation (E.C.O) today announces the first 100 Companies invited to join its ethical company accreditation scheme, illustrating which Companies are overall most responsible to the environment, people and animals.

In order to create the definitive responsible company list, E.C.O research accessed over 50,000 records from as far back as 1989. The independent study (using researchers from ECRA) spanned News Reports, Court Reports, Public Complaints, and campaign information from non-government organisations like Greenpeace and Christian Aid.

In response to other queries:

No, all the Co-ops aren't the same; they're completely separate and have (or had) little contact with each other. I worked for a Co-op as a graduate trainee manager 22 years ago, so some things could have changed.

Ecover make washing-up liquids and other detergents.
