Is it acceptable for my Son who has just turned 2 to watch the Simpsons ?

My wife tells me No ! however i dont see a problem with it.
I think its the violence she objects too...

And i like sitting down with him a 6 to watch it, saves me from the delights of The Fimbles, 64 Zoo Lane and the Story Makers on C Beebies !

firstly, do you actually think a two year old is going to be interested in it any further than the bright colours?

secondly, did you and your wife watch Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Road Runner etc at that age? bet you did, and they're far more violent than Simpsons.

Simpsons is so great as it works on so many levels for so many different age groups. Your wife is seeing a different cartoon to what a young kid is watching, and thinks its unappropriate.

The Simpsons is the most moral program on television, the characters always end up doing the right thing - eventually. My son's watched it since he was about two.

PS - My wife and I disagree on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I say it's post-modernist irony and shows a stong role model for teenage girls but Mrs Brovian reckons it's for dirty old men.

Very true.

Although the older they get, kids can ask you awkward questions

There is an episode where Marge says something to Lisa about the things you have to put up with men doing...or something. Basically it's a very adult joke about SEX.

I was watching it with a friend's kids and pissed myself laughing.....

'Why are you laughing?' came the question...
