The problem with NSC at the moment

I had to bite the bullet and say I think NSC is in danger of becoming a bit of a " love in " at the moment.

I have noticed particularly over the last year that the forum has become a bit of a lovies chat room or a chat room for Labour activists or a chat room for anti war activists.

I can only put this down to the NSC get togethers. Don't get me wrong as its great to meet up with " names " and have a beer and discuss the love of the Albion but this has meant NSC has lost its cutting edge as an interesting and lively forum.

I think people now just go aong with the majority view incase they upset one of " the faces " they met at the get together or may make things awkward at the next get together. What we have now is a sheep mentality when most of NSC are too afraid to put an alternative point of view across especially when one of the " big names " we all know who they are, put something on a thread, people just agree.

Its like a 4 line party whip.

Frankly it is making NSC boring. I know my viewpoints are different to some others but there is no lively debate just the old usual retoric and history lessons from people trying to impress us with their knowledge.

After 4 years I am sorry to say this but its true.

go away then

seriously you have made good points but thats life, NSC cant be great forever, abit like Liverpool from the 80's - once fantastic but now just steadily going along without doing too much but every now and then abit of excitement!

I suggest we all start again with new usernames and avatars and stuff, that'd be fun

Tony Adams is the best man for the Albion and the Cardiff play-off final will sell out on day 1 of tickets going on sale being two that I disagreed with:jester:

I do know what you mean Gareth but sometimes you set yourself up with some fairly outrageous generalisations.

There are some very astute political brains that post on here(mainly leftie pinkos ;) ) and sometimes I don't understand the question let alone the answer :dunce:

I agree with Gareth on this one largely.

Thats why i dont go to the meet-ups as it might spoil things.

I don't go the meet ups as I want to keep my air of mystery, and a lot of you might punch me.

I try and liven it up a bit occassionall with some deliberately challenging statements.

I think the only thing I have in common with 99% of NSC is the love of the Albion.

I pretty much agree too.
There is a 'clique' element to NSC, but you get that anywhere.
I have to say over the past couple of years some of the debate has been less heated.
But its a nice friendly place to visit and I for one dont want to change things.
You take things too seriously Glover!

I can't begin to compete with London Irish or the Lord with their knowledge of political situations around the world. I can however win hands down with them when discussing the best mortgage rates available but I supsect that might make quite boring viewing.

IMHO it's things like this that screw up NSC!

Just be yourself - stop trying to be clever :jester:

It's been clique-ier, believe me.
