So it all starts tomorrow. You would have thought that after so many seasons that you'd get used to it. But if you get used to it then maybe you never cared enough in the first place. Will we score enough goals, will the defence be strong enough, do we have creativity in midfield, is Gus the right manager, should our mascot look more like a seagulls than a mobile KFC advert......I read all these conversations each week and they all count for nothing because the night before............. you hope, you remember the great moments, you make sure the shirt's hanging correctly in the wardrobe, you wonder what happened at Swindon when you sat in the sunny East as we demolished Chelsea and it feels like being a kid again on Christmas Eve with different lyrics to Jingle Bells. Gentlemen and ladies of this site..lets get behind the team and dream a dream. Just for tonight because at 4.55pm tomorrow reality begins.

Twas the night before season, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The banners were hung by the speakers with pride,
In hopes Johnny Cantor soon would provide.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Vicente danced in their heads.
And ma in her pink stipes, and I in my blue,
Had just settled our brains, for the long season due.

And then, in a twinkling, I saw in my mind,
The tipy and tapy, of the Gus Poyet kind.
As it swirled in my head, and was churning around,
I had visions of seagulls, and our lovely ground.

I'm going to sleep now, and tomorrow I'll rise,
With a burst of excitement, seagulls in my eyes.
For tomorrow begins, a season anew,
Lets hope it's a good one, for the lads white and blue.

Beautifully written.

There is definitely hope for a Nobel Prize for Literature to the nervous insomniacs of the NSC.

I'm still in bed, contemplating getting up, still a few hours until I need to leave to get to Hull. The excitement has got to me; I've just ordered Burnley tickets!

We said our goodbyes (ah, the night before)
Love was in your eyes (ah, the night before)
Now today I find you have changed your mind
Treat me like you did the night before

Were you telling lies? (ah, the night before)
Was I so unwise? (ah, the night before)
When I held you near, you were so sincere
Treat me like you did the night before
