So the FSF have noticed the magic has gone out of the FA Cup and are putting it down to the lack of 3pm kick offs. Nothing to do with the fact that every premier league club doesn't take it seriously and pretty much the majority of the Championship.

So the FSF have noticed the magic has gone out of the FA Cup and are putting it down to the lack of 3pm kick offs. Nothing to do with the fact that every premier league club doesn't take it seriously and pretty much the majority of the Championship.

It would be easier to list the things they haven't changed that still contribute to the magic of the Cup. This is one reason but there are many others - Semi Finals at Wembley, Final not at 3pm and no longer the last game of the season, Corporate seating allocation, teams fielding weakened teams to name a few.

Interesting that there has been plenty of magic in the cup in the preliminaries, the 4 qualifying rounds, 1st & 2nd rounds. It’s not all about whether the top 2 tiers play full strength sides or not.

The fact of the matter is that money is all that is important to the top 20 clubs (and those that aspire to join them) and the whole time either staying on the PL gravy train or trying to get on the even bigger gravy express that is the Champions League makes more cash, the FA Cup will continue to suffer as a consequence. Maybe giving the FA Cup winner an automatic place in the CL could be the answer as let's face it not even Burnley really gave a **** about the Europa League.
