Isn't it now time to move on? Glenn Murray has chosen to leave. Despite the fact that he scored a fair few goals over his time at the club, especially in this last season, he never seemed to be totally committed to the Seagulls. Now he's gone and we have a new striker who scored almost as many goals last season, not for a highly successful team which oozed confidence but for one at the bottom of the league. In his performance against us at Bristol, Will Hoskins was superb; he looked a threat every time he had the ball. If he can repeat that next season he will quickly become a firm favourite.

As for Murray - the test will be in future years - will he show the same affection and appreciation for the club and its fans that the likes of Peter Ward and Bobby Zamora obviously do? I wonder.

Not a chance, at the worst Wardy's move was a sideways move and Zammo's was a definite step up (as were Mike Small and John Byrne). All four left for a fee. There's not much doubt that at the very best Murray's move is a sideways move and that's being pretty generous. Murray would have had to go some to be a legend had he stayed and there's no way he would be despite having one good season. The next Albion striking legend is in waiting with Messers Hoskins and Barnes ready to step in.

For me, most of the bitterness that he's joining 'them' is wiped away by everything else that's happening with our club. After all those years of utter toilet, we're on the verge of moving into one of the best grounds in the country (outside the premiership), paid for by a Chairman who loves the Albion and has backed that love up with big money. With 18,000 season ticket holders we are now above some, and on a par with many in the Championship in terms of support. We have a great manager and the team that he and Tanno lead superbly secured the League One Championship with four games to go. For the first time in god knows how many years, we are now on a level playing field with many in the division we will be playing in next season. Yes it's going to be a lot tougher but we now have a solid foundation from which to push on. Whatever Glen Murray does wont change that.

I think I'm right in saying that the most newsworthy thing that Murray has done has been to bugger off up the road.

He has never been as prolific, and it was only at the end of this last season that he struck most of us as being up to the job!
That was because he actually did manage- with great help and assistance from his team-mates - to get to the target set by the manager.

His sudden assessment of great worth has been a bit of a shock to be honest. In fact, there is a rather famous tale that 'suits' this situation;
