The new series is back on, as is the podcast, which I've just listened too.
This weeks episode is about code breaking, Bletchley Park, and the German Enigma machines.

In talking about it, the Official Secrets Act, and declassification they mentioned this:-

The reason the whole operation remained so secret, well into the 1970's, was because as the Allies marched through Europe, we hoovered up all the Engima machines.
Obviously they were no use to anyone else.
They were all sent back to London and stock piled.

When the dust had settled England then said to America, Canada, Australia et al:-
'Hey we've got all these coded machines the Germans swore by, do you want them?'

Our 'allies', unaware that we had cracked the code all said yes.
So England was able to spy on them for a further 20 years.

Makes you proud to be English.
