Glen is a good manager, but just not for Spurs.

Did a great job at Southampton, and was also good for England.

Glenn Hoddle.....Glenn Hoddlllllleeee

No I'm not. IMHO he is not bad. This is why:

1. Turned Southampton from bottom half to top 8 team

2. Did well for England in the cup, but not denying the wierd stuff he made the players do.

3. Taken over from George Graham, and slowly turning the team around to what they once were. Made some good signings, and for 2004/05 season, will see a major difference in WHL.

4. Also raised Chelsea's game, and brought the lovable Gullit.

I think a lot of people dislike him because he's now associated with spurs.

And almost everyone hates spurs.

I just hope BZ doesn't go that way.

Possibly an age thang, but Hoddle the player was one of the reasons a lot people used to like Spurs.

He was a wonderful player, and I still like him. He certainly could have been a better manager at times, but I don't agree with any of the vitriol that people direct against him here.

Some people object to his religious views. Well, I object to Christianity, but don't say spend my time calling names to people who believe things I think are rubbish.

he's just a rubbish manager.

he's a fairly good coach with average teams (Swindon, Southampton and pre-big money Cheklsea) but given an above average set-up and a managers seat he produces rubbish (England, Tottenham)

and then there's Eilleen....................................

Spurs are my favourite team other than Brighton, when I was a kid Glenn was my favourite player in England other than Peter Ward & Im glad BZ chose Spurs above anyone else, BUT since his comments about the disabled when he was England coach I have lost nearly all respect for him. Agree with BrightonBird though about him being a good manager, dont think he's done a bad job anywhere he's been. All this talk about him making good players bad is, I think, unfounded. Rebrov wasnt a good player before he joined Spurs. I think he was carried by Shevchenko beforehand. Anyway enough is enough, I thankyou for your time. :albion:

Although a rabid Spurs hater, my dislike of Hoddle doesn't come from his association with this scum of all football clubs, more from his 'Ego has Landed' personality and well-documented man mismanagement skills. He could do with taking himself a bit less seriously.

No doubting his ability as a player, but I read Tony Cascarino's autobiog and he was scathing about Hoddle when the mulleted one was manager of Chelsea. Hoddle used to get great pleasure out of belittling players whose skills were not as sublime as Glenns. There have been other players (such as Sherwood and Rebrov) who were very critical of him too.

If you look at his record at Chelsea, they ended up in exactly the same position when he left as when he took over. For England he was tactically naive in the match against Argentina (though I agree with his decision to omit Gazza from the squad), and started off the Euro 2000 campaign with a defeat.

Tottenham have hardly sparkled in the two years he has been in charge, and the way he left Southampton spoke volumes for the mans lack of ethics and integrity
