Went to see The Coral last night supported by the Bees. I like both bands and was expectring a lot of the Bees, unfortunately it sounded like they were limiters of the Bees' sound. Not sure if the Coral would ask for there to be limiters on them but it was well quiet and it seemed like the crowd missed the point.

The Coral were decent and tried to get the best out of what really is a poor sound set up.

Good show ruined again by what is a poor venue IMHO.

Plus it was full of 15 year old boys with silly hair like fatboys.

I know what you mean about the dome, its almos tlike they make it difficult for bands in there.

I've got Bella and sebastian there, they should be ok as it is mainly accoustic pretty much so probably more suited to the venue.

What was good was the unreserved bit downstairs meant you could sit down or stand up, good idea that.

Another bad thing though is that you can only smoke in the bar areas and all their bottled lager was warm as f***.

The dome is a nice size IMO. The Levellers played there last year. Not too small to be cramped, but not too vast to be devoid of any atmosphere. My gripe last year was the bouncers. Anyone who dared to appear to have a good time, was manhandled out the auditorim....twats.

I've heard that too Chappers, maybe you just got unlucky last night. Either that or you need a hearing aid

I think it depends where you are in the building. if you ar ein the unreserved seat then the sounds is quite poor as the ceiling is so low but int he standing area in front of the stage it is normally excellent.

I went to that gig last night and I agree with Chappers over the sound being poor, but it was just because it was not loud enough. The acoustics were decent. Bit of an odd gig to be honest.

Certainly was odd, i was hoping that they'd crank it up for the Coral but they didn't. I was pretty close to the speakers standing on the right hand side and it was hardly very loud at all.

Ahhh well, you should have been at the Centre watching the majestic show by Peter Gabriel last night.

it was feckin superb..............
