Leaving Dick Knight and Martin Perry out of this as they will stand or fall purely on the success of producing Falmer, for a club that is supposedly strapped for cash there seems to be a lot of non playing staff on the payroll.
The first team squad at this moment consists of 13 players with much first team experience, Kuipers, Roberts, Watson, Mayo, Cullip, Pethick, Knight, Hart, Carpenter, Butters, Jones, McPhee and Hinshelwood. Three long term injured in Blackwell , Oatway and Rodger and the rest youngsters or out on loan in Pitcher, Wilkinson, Lee, Hammond, Piercey, Marney, Virgo, Harding and maybe Robinson and that is that. That is the sum total of first team squad we have now so is it any wonder we're struggling as there is no competition for places, no strength on the bench and no room for McGhee to turn things around with what we've got.
Yet despite having a threadbare squad we seem to have an awful lot of non playing staff in what could be duplicated jobs. Do we need a manager McGhee, an assistant Booker, Director of Football Hinshelwood, Reserve coach White, Youth coach Wilkins, Goalkeeping coach Keeley ?
Then off the field also there is the physio Stuart, two assistant physios, a football liason manager (who does exactly what ?), a commercial manager , a marketing manager, plus financial controller, press officer, webmaster, two club doctors , Paul Rogers doing god knows what and how many more people on the payroll we don't know about.
Something seems wrong to me that we can have such limited funds to spend on the team yet such a massive non playing staff and as anyone knows the commercial side of the club is a disgrace and so is the website so it's about time someone at the club started a clear out and not only looking at the playing staff but everyone on the payroll and started asking who does what and are we getting value for their salary.

Ernest-you are right. A football club with a manager and an assistant manager-what a waste of money. A physio? What for, it's not as if footballers get injured any more is it?

I agree with ernset. There are too many freeloaders in our club! Sack all non-playing members of staff - and to be honest do we need more than 14 players? We have few injuries.

In fact, Cullip is the best centre-half in this division, so we probably only need him in that position, and the same could be said of Leon Knight. So really we only 9 players.

And then we could reduce costs of tickets & burgers. It's genius :dunce:

Good ideas Stumpy but you're just tinkering with the problem. The obvious solution - why don't we just wind the club up? That will reduce the price of Season Tickets!

Surely Guy Butters could be used to roll the pitch at Withdean, that will get rid of the need for a groundsman.

That's a brilliant suggestion El Pres. We could combine the pitch rolling with the players' daily booze ups. They can all get pissed, roll butters around the pitch, thereby getting their bit of fun, only stopping to have a piss on the dry patches of grass, helping to cut down the water bill.

That 'ernset' is pure genius, no mistake.

You are a genius. Are you a gardener by trade? It is well known that nitrogen in men's urine is good for the soil.

Not a gardener Yorkie but your scientific input explains the lushness of the grass near the bus stops in Guildford:lolol:

We do not need SIX coaching staff. Dean White should go now as the reserves don't play many games and Bob Booker could easily do his job. Divert some of the money to a full-time scout.

Why not sack the staff in the ticket office.

Nobody wants to buy tickets anyway so we could save money there.

Colchester - Manager, Assistant Manager, Physio, Chief Scout, Coach/Scout, Head of Youth, Youth Recruitment Officer, Chief Executive, Accountant, Media Manager, Press Manager, Supporters Liason Manager, Lottery Development Manager, Stadium Manager, Retail Manager, Safety Manager, Corporate Consultant, Football Secretary

I agree that we need a chief scout and maybe slightly oversubscribed in the number of coaches but we're not that much different from other 2nd Division Clubs.
