The blame lies with McGhee

Put out a side with three midget strikers.

No strikers or wingers on the bench.

Takes off one of our few attacking players.

Brings on a central midfielder, and no-one knows where they're playing. Cue 10 minutes of mayhem.

The manager had an utter nightmare today.

The approach was to play an attacking team, get an early goal, and bring on those midfielders to shore up a lead.

It didn't work, but it was a good attempt to be positive and attempt to wrest the initiative from Crewe, and it might have worked if we had scored when we had a good half hour up their first goal. But it didn't work, shit happens, we move on to next week.

McGhee made some bad decisions today. He gets my backing as manager but I just couldn't understand that side at all.
Why Harding in midfield ? why Reid in front of the players on the bench? why piercy upfront instead of Molango or Robinson if they aren't good enough, when will they be.Why change from 4-4-2 ? London Irish you say it was positive can you honestly say you agreed with that formation and the eleven players selected ?I normally say don't worry it was against better teams etc.Today we were awful,if that good.I'm well pissed off with that performance or lack of one.

The big man is a hero, give him a break. I am 110% behind Mark, he needs our support not our abuse.

No I didn't agree with the formation, but I back McGhee to take some educated risks. We can't applaud him when they come off and then damn him when they don't, we have to have some understanding of the difficult position he's in.

McGhee has said Molango is not fit, he's had an operation ?? I don't think Jakey is our saviour, alas.

Which is why I'm all the more puzzled. Surely a striker on the bench was necessary - how were we going to need three CM's? I can't believe a manager with such experience allowed the farce leading up to goal 3 - Piercy came off, Hammond came on to get us back into it, and no-one appeared to know what was happening or where anyone was playing.

Bizzare - hopefully McGhee'll realise his mistakes, and forget the excuses. We need to go all out to get a striker in, else we're in big trouble. A shame that Knight is hitting form when he has no support.

We all hail him when he gets it right.I still think he is a great manager but why can't we knock him when in my view he got it completely wrong today ?
We played well for a while. Was their keeper ever really tested ? They hit the bar in that spell. We could have been beaten by 5 or 6 today against a side who we want to finish above.
They players and manager have to take a bit of stick after a performance like that.Crewe at home is a game we should win.Remember last time in this league and our results against sides down the bottom ? We were poor today and you have to admit it.

Ok let him take those risks but let us say when it doesn't work.We shouldn't all come on here and say that was great never mind.It was crap today, result wise.

Dont' disagree with any of that. But the more important question is, will he learn from these mistakes? The record, I feel, shows that he will, as he did after Plymouth and after Bristol Rovers.

he tactics where abit dodgy but we looked good in that 30 mins but the same old thing happened when we let in a goal and our heads go down.
We need to get behind Mcghee and the team and we got to look onward to UPTON park where we can take a least a draw next week.

The first essential is A CLEAN SHEET. We didnt look likea side that was not going to conceede a goal and even less likea team that was going to score one.

There is only one answer how ever it is achieved sign a striker on loan/ on a free/ an out of contract 6 footer whatever and put Virgo when fit in the centre of defence instead of Cullip.

I can't see that Virgo is an answer ahead of Cullip, our best defender, much as I rate him as a centre-back. We need DC's experience and quality, Virgs would be a step back.

I agree with Bens Grandad to a certain extent regarding Danny Cullip, he may have only come back recently from injury but he was badly shown by Ashton on many ocassions today. He is a excellent Div 2 player and a great servant to the club, but his limitations are shown at this level and the fact that no club came in for him when on the transfer list says something.

As for blaming Mark McGhee - get into the real world. Wenger or Ferguson would struggle to do better with his meagre resources and in my opinion he is a better and more astute manager than Micky Adams.
