www.bigconversation.org.uk is all about Tony Blair et al hearing our views on issues close to our heart.

Log on and complete the form and let JP and others know that Falmer is the single most important community issue facing Sussex.

It takes less than 5 minutes - we should all do this, please spread the word.

Together we will win!

I dont wish to piss on your parade, but don't you think Tony and John have one or two more pressing things to think about than a football stadium?

I commute into London, work for a DR company and am extremely worried at the moment with what is coming out of Al Queida. Especially if the trains are their next "soft" target

I'm sure they do, Dave.

But, for all that, the Planning Directorate of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is still up there at 26 Whitehall, worrying about what to advise Prescott to do with pending planning decisions. They're not going to throw their workload out of the window just because the guy at the end of the corridor is meeting his boss to talk about national security issues.

I think I must be missing something here, but the next on-line Q&A session is with the Treasury Minister John Healey after the budget next week.....there doesn't seem to be anything involving JP and TB (Prescott and Blair, not Piercy & Benjamin!)

Am I looking at the wrong bit?

Then stay at home and wrap yourself in copies of the Daily Mail. Yes, Madrid was tragic, but that threat has been hanging over London - from one source or another - for more than thirty years now. I got caught up in the Docklands bomb of '97 (got blown across an office, cut by flying glass, two people I knew died), I was back there two days later like everyone else. London has always been a target for terrorists - have you genuinely only just noticed that?

Okay, so the Big Conversation is of course a Big Con. Just like Bliar himself. Except he's a Big NeoCon.

The biggest 'conversation' I've been involved in recently with our government was on Feb 15th 2003, when 1,500,000 people told Bliar he was utterly wrong to poodle behind Bush into Iraq. He didn't listen then. He won't listen now.

But as Lord B says, a lot of civil servants are nonetheless going to have to deal with the fact of thousands of people demanding that we get our stadium. And brief their bosses accordingly.

So it really is worth using this avenue as another way of turning the accelerating Falmer drip feed into an unstoppable waterfall.

You can't be any more cynical than me. But I held my nose and spent 5 minutes to do an email. If we all do it, regardless of any personal misgivings, it can only help.

You patronising sh*t. I have never and would never read the Daily mail. So because I am worried about the present situation makes me a Daily mail reader does it? Have I noticed that London is a target? No of course I haven't...I have my head buried in the sand.

It was unfortunate you were caught up in the Docklands Bomb and you lost people, my company lost nigh on 75 people in the Two Towers, had clients whose entire staff were taken out ( Cantor Fitgerald) So lets not try to score points about who has been hit the hardest.

I have travelled up to London for the last 4 years every day, and before that for 5 years on the trains. I do not travel by Tube ( personal choice) If I go to Docklands I travel by DLR, but who is to say that is not on a list.

The point I was making is that in the industry I work in, we receive detailed information of percieved and actual threats/incidents, the vast majority of which are not reported for various reasons, most of wich are "against the public interest"

If I did not have to work in London, I would not do so.

Only on NSC can the insult "Daily Mail Reader" carry soo much weight!

Anyway, I don't think this thread is the place to argue. Let's all just be friends and concentrate on Falmer eh?

Yes, but JP was the one who called the plan in for a public enquiry and therefore took the decision away from B&H local council, he is the one who turned this into a national issue and I expect him and his department to give it full consideration.

I know the Country has more pressing issues but nobody forced him to go for a public enquiry........JP ? sort it out !
