I don't think there has been a particularly mind-blowing debut album since Original Pirate Material by The Streets.

Even The Arctic Monkeys was a touch cliched and fueled by hype. Sound enough record by all means but not in the same league as Definitely Maybe or The Stones Roses debut.

I think part of the problem is that no debut will ever be truly fresh upon hearing these days because, quite simply, you will have already heard most of the tracks on myspace or downloaded.

The unrivalled joy of giving an album the first play through is sadly something soon to be consigned to the past (If it isn't already).

Being able to download tracks online is brilliant but it has removed the freshness of albums.
