Ok. Hand on heart, would you rather England retained The Ashes in Australia or won Euro 2008.

Admitedly, neither that realistic, but if you could only choose one...

As much as I would like us to retain the Ashes we will need a shed load of luck as without Vaughan we lack leadership.

The Ashes. A competition with a immense amount of history. I would be delighted for Freddie et al. I am not sure I could stand Neville and co getting a knghthood for winning a tin pot tournament.

Euro 2008, easily.

My interest in cricket is, most of the time, about a tenth of my interest in football.

Surely the football is a bigger prize with nothing since 1966, the cricketers have had their moment of glory already.

To win the Ashes down under would be out of this world. On my part, I chose the Ashes because it is a beautiful contest with such grit and determination combined with humility and sporting heroism. The Euro cup does nothing for me. Fun at the time, but I would rather we didn't have Neville and Rio crowing on about how they are the best in Europe. When you compare the players, man for man, the footballers are found wanting each and every time.

Rather win Euro 2008, but I'm surprised everyone is so down about our chances of winning the Ashes. The pitches will suit Harmison, batsmen like Cook & Bell have come of age, and we have a spinner who can actually spin the ball & take wickets. We probably have more talent in the team now than last time - just need to get the key players firing

I chose Euro 08 because clearly the World Cup would be the pinnacle and NOTHING could beat that (except the first match at falmer and a Brighton Champions League win )

we have no Simon Jones. No Vaughn, Marcus T is down at the shrinks sorting his head out, Freddie's hardly bowled, and GBH is completley out of form.

Desperatley hope I'm proved wrong but think we have no chance.

That's a fair argument, I'd agree the cricketers certainly seem the more decent sportsmen with the exception of the Bok who gets on my nerves a bit.

I would rather we won the Ashes, and I think we WILL win the Ashes. I had this Ashes argument with WW at great length the other night, but I really feel the pitches will suit our bowlers, and we have enough depth and talent in the batting line up to knock up some decent scores. As for Australia, well I just don't think they are as good as people say. They are a very old team, and with the exception of Shane their bowling is very much in decline. I also prefer the look of our top 6 batsmen to theirs.

I am so confident about this it's untrue, and I do recall WW actually being convinced of my insanity, but you heard it hear first: The Ashes ARE coming home:clap2:

(As for Euro 2008, does anyone really care?)

Mahmood. Anderson. Plunkett.

There is NOBODY to replace JONES!

And MCGRATH IS STILL A FANTASTIC BOWLER:)

Mahmood will be OK. He is quick, so the pitches.
It's not his pace, more his shitness, which concerns me.

Only if we fluke a draw.
We'll miss Vaughans captaincy majorly. Trescothick is batting like me at the moment, and Strauss has hardly been setting the world alight. Then who? Bell was a DISGRACE against the Aussies last time, and is Cook really any better against class opponents?

Oh, and remember, Flintoff is only just bag from injury, so i suspect his bowling won't be anything like as good as it was last summer.

So Bell was crap last time.... so does that automatically he'll do the same this time? Trescothink was excellent last time, but you've now decided he's going to be crap too..... So who is going to be good? Only people who have been brilliant through the Ashes & since?

Well the Aussies are screwed then.... Warne & Lee are the only ones who did really well last time, so obviously they're the only players who can possibly be any good this time (using your logic). Players like Nathan Bracken didn't even play, so he won't be able to play this time.... what are they going to do?!

Ashes, every time, the Ashes.
Especially after last time, and the fact we hold them to lose.

Okay, it's awful to be without Simon Jones and infuriating that we didn't have him properly operated on several months earlier - writing off the India and Pakistan tours for the sake of the Aussies - but at least we have Cook, Monty and a bit better Bell since then. And McGrath is fading still, and a long time away from the wicket...

Another football flop? Well, we expect it, don't we...?
Ashes 2006/2007, and the World Cup 2010.
That'd do me, if we can fix that one right here, right now...?
