That 'Penalty'...

Have heard a lot of contrasting views on this, the decision which ultimately caused such a huge defeat and ended any chance we had of getting anything but really cannot understand how any Albion fan at the game or not can justify that being a penalty (let alone a pen against the Albion!)...

I am going here from the BBC video and it isn't the clearest of views but what is 100% clear (not even just in my opinion, it is pretty much fact from that video) is that the Hudds player dived / went down very easily... If you watch his feet (and anyone who plays football should know this) he takes an extra stride on his right foot before falling to the ground - there's no way if he was properly taken out his stride pattern would be like that! He's also heading away from goal and left a trailing leg or whatever. If there was contact it was minimal and wouldn't have cause their player to go down...

I know we want to move on from this result but just a bit astonished that some people on here are saying it's a 'blatent' pen - it was anything but blatent...

We prob still wouldn't have won but maybe sneaked a draw who knows... Fact is his stride pattern was certainly not normal...

Anyway - roll on Sat - we'll win!

It was a dive, but it was a penalty. And as it was a penalty, it was a sending off.

If Forster had of been in the same position and we didnt get a penalty our fans would be screaming for a penalty and moan how we didnt get it for days after.

Kuipers didnt get the ball, Novak got there before him, yes he jumped over him, but it was still a penalty (in my opinion and that)

Look at Liverpool's penalty against Spurs, exactly rthe same thing. No doubt we will see it many times again in all leagues and games of varying importance

Spot on

Having just seen those highlights for the first time, a few things spring to mind.

El-Abd had a complete NIGHTMARE. The two outstanding moments for me were the backpass (obviously) and the completely ridiculous attempt at 'defending' for the 4th goal.
Theo Robinson looked very good. Pity we couldn't sign him in the summer.
The penalty looks harsh, but I'm not surprised that it was given. If we didn't have one like that given I would be LIVID. Kuipers then acts like a 5 year old. Not very clever at all.

I know exactly what ou mean but if it's a dive in my opinion it shouldn't be a pen but i do know what you mean. We def didn't get the rub of the green. One thing i will disagree on is that it was nothing like Spurs Lpool pen - Gomes smashed the Liverpool player whereas it seeed there was no / little contact with Kuipers' one. Saying that in L1 we dont get to see 20 diff angles of it or slow mo replays...

CLEAR penalty and red card.

Some people are so blinded by their love for Brighton.

Bollox mate. Look at his stride pattern - he takes an extra step after any possible 'contact' - he divd

Whilst it was probably a penno the FACT remains that the sitution should never have come about, if it wasn't for Adam El-Liability none of it would have happened and we may not have suffered such a DRUBBING.

Although the striker made sure Kuiper's hand clipped his leg, you see penalties like this awarded all the time so I've no complaints.

I have only seen it once on the night, but the forward made sure he got a touch then went down like a sack of spuds.

Played for the senario, penalty (goal) and sending off. I felt Kuipers should have stood up and even concended a softer goal for the sake of the game, however in the moment he was doing his job.

The first time I have seen Albion this season and in refelction it was like watching Adams loan signings of last year. Really hope Russell can sort this out.

Come off it, it was a stone wall penalty. Novak is running flat out, no way did he dive. Take a look on the World Player, which has longer hightlights, Kuipers doesn't even complain about the penalty being awarded, he only starts kicking off when the red card comes out. I think you lot need some new glasses. Would you be saying the same thing had it been the other way around?
