Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland has explained his decision to release striker Jamie Burt from the remaining year of his contract.
The former Newcastle trainee did not play for the Spireites after January last season, having scored only two goals, although he did make one appearance under McFarland this season - as an 89th minute substitute against Bristol City.
"He felt disillusioned after what happened last year, even though there was a clean slate for everyone when I took over," McFarland told the club's website.
"He went through pre-season but I didn't see any fire in his belly. I didn't see his desire to become part of my first-team squad.
"It was not for the want of trying, but the quality wasn't good enough. There was no future for him here," added McFarland.
UniBond Premier League clubs Barrow and Blyth Spartans are said to be interested in securing the 23-year-old's services after his two-and-a-half year spell at Saltergate was ended.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
