That is a very good shout. Camus' 'The Outsider' and Kafka's 'The Trial' were the 2 books that blew my mind as a teenager.

Two essential teenage reads - there are certain books that one should only read as a teenager because most adults would find them unreadable. I don't think either of these fits that category but I'd say Catcher in the Rye. Steppenwolf, On the Road and anything by Tolkien or Mervyn Peake are teenage-only books.

Talking of The Outsider, I have The Meursault Enquiry on my bookshelf ready to read - it's the novel that tells the same story as The Outsider but through the eyes of the murdered Arab's brother, looks intriguing
