Thankyou to the Nationwide Building Society

As we all know Coca-Cola are to be the new sponsors of The Football League. Does anyone else think this is a really bad idea? Never mind the fact that we've now got a multinational whose major association with football in this country was the mickey-mouse cup. But what about the proposed league name changes? What about what Nationwide did for the game as a whole, with their community and youth projects? Not to mention the increase in attendance over the last few years. Are Coca-cola really bothered by this? Like hell they are.

And the Nationwide League actually sounded vaguely OK, unlike what it is to be now. Why don't the authorities in football start looking at something more than just money?? if I were Nationwide I'd be feeling pretty aggrieved about this, and I've just emailed the FL telling them what a bunch of fucktards they are for this.

Any thoughts?

Actually, I think they'd probably realised that the sponsorship was a complete waste of money.

When you saw or heard the words "Nationwide league", I bet you didn't think of the building society.

Bit like a company called FA sponsoring the FA Cup, or something.

Yeah, if they change the league names as proposed we won't be in Div 1, we'll be in the Coca-Cola League Championship.

and before you say anything else, this idea is the League's and not Coca Cola's.
