I'm going to play a test game and will post the outcomes here, just to give you a flavour of the game to come in a few weeks during Sim Footballs off season.

In the afternoon session, Sussex switched from Normal Batting Mode to Looking for Runs Batting Mode.

At tea, they are 243-6.

Day 2 is still Warm & Fine. The pitch is the same as on Day 1

Even though they switch to Normal batting mode, it's still slow going for Oxford as they crawl to 71-1 at lunch on Day 2. They will now switch to Looking for Runs mode.

The wicket has deteriorated.

A good comeback as the score is 228-3 at Tea.

Sussex close Day 2 on 78-2 - a lead of 121 with 8 wickets remaining.

Day 3 -There is a chance of rain. This does not affect the morning session. Sussex continue to look for runs.

A good recovery by Sussex from 114-6 to 188-6 at Lunch. There is no rain in the afternoon session.

Sussex 312-9 at Tea on Day 3. The rain has kept away all day.

14 minutes after tea, Sussex are all out for 325 setting a target of 369 to win with a day and a bit left, weather permitting.

After surviving a couple of early scares, Oxford move onto 65-0 at close on Day 3 by batting using Normal Mode.

Day 4 weather - Chance of Rain. There is no rain in the morning session.

A well balanced game with Oxford on 162-3 at Lunch requiring another 203 to win. The rain holds off for the afternoon session.

Oxford have reached 239-6 at Tea on Day 4. The weather won't save them as it doesn't rain. They switch to Shutters up batting mode to try and save a draw.

Oxford save the game with a dour last session. They finish on 284-6.

I hope this has given you an idea of how the game plays. Basically, you wil have to decide whether to bat or bowl first, which of the 5 batting modes to choose and when to declare.

The pitch changes throughout the game as it deteriorates making appeals likely to be more successful. Weather changes from day to day and can cause large loss of play.

Looks like I've got a lot of work to do in turning it into a spreadsheet.
