I think if you research this (assuming you haven't anything better to do says he who is posting this) you will find that this was for the US version. I believe the UK counterpart was from Kent and was the daughter of one of the producers.

Takes me back to when the programme first appeared (well pre kids for me) and I was working in a call centre. For some reason it became cult viewing among the team, the late shift staff briefing us on the days episode which I think used to be repeated in the afternoon at a time convenient to the early shift . Happy days!
