As much as I love my SkyPlus system I don't watch a lot of television and am fed up of shelling out £34 a month for the privelege. If you cancel the premium channels you effectively lose SkyPlus's extra features so it becomes no better than an ordinary receiver.
I was therefore thinking of investing in either Freeview (with Top Up TV for E4 so can still watch the Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Line of Fire and West Wing)
1. A combined HDD and DVD recorder
or
2. A HDD drive if the combo is too expensive. Realistically I would want one that holds at least 60 hours as the kids tend to record a load of crap.
Any suggestions for makes and models, or is Sky+ still superior to everything else on the market?
