I heard dropped....
If so I think that's excellent management from RDZ tbh. Steele was excellent on Tuesday and its been too long where Big Bob has had no real challenge when he's made a few clangers.

Bob is a great young keeper, and sure he'll be back between the sticks soon, but a kick up the arse and the psycology of being being droppable is no bad thing.

Maybe. Keepers who has been starters for years and then gets dropped tend to be very unhappy.

Personally wouldn't be shocked if this we've seen the last of Sanchez in a Brighton shirt.

I would..... you sound like my Mrs!

OTT reaction to something thats not that big a deal.

Yes Matty Ryan left, but very different stage of career. Bob was promoted before anyone expected it, probably even him. He's still very young, I'd be shocked if a young keeper at a top ten PL club who have developed him for years, suddenly left after his form dipped and he was rightly benched. I expect Sanchez to get fired up to improve and get back in.

I trust RDZ judgement implicitly.

Maybe he is judging that he needs a new keeper in the summer?

Goalies are weird animals. Going from being the starting goalie for years to becoming Jason Steeles sidekick... Essentially getting the blame for a few poor results. National team selections coming up in a few weeks. Not at all convinced that Rob thinks "wow this is a funny challenge from the manager, I'll do some extra push-ups on Monday".

The trouble with dropping keepers is that a load of people will aftertime the decision. If Steele does an Imperial leather, its a shit one, if he plays well its a good one with all the psychology to improve Sanchez's levels to coin a Potter phrase.

My view is that is a great decision. Steele was good on Wednesday and Sanchez cost us the Palace game. He was also a bit casual against Bournemouth albeit harsh as he kept a clean sheet.

If you think it's a shit decision now is the time to say it. Not 17.00 tonight.

Indeed. In goalkeeper terms he's still a scholar. This could be a good moment for him.

And if he wants to leave then 'meh'. If we play against him we might score from some corners!

I think it’s a good decision. I always feel for players when they play well in cup games, training but still don’t get a game in the first team when the players in their position aren’t in great form. If playing well and good form can’t get you a game, what can? What’s the point if you can’t earn your place in the team? Brave from RDZ but good.

I don't disagree that goalies are different beasts,, but he's not being scapegoated for results, he has dropped a few clangers, he gifted Palace an unlikely draw, and he has dipped in form a bit imho.

As for being unsatisfied at becoming "Jason Steeles sidekick" firstly Sanchez was given an opportunity long before many other keeper of his age would at this level, and 2, that's rather derogatory towards Steele, who was a number 1 for years in the Championship and had played many times in the England age groups up to U21. Steele had a torrid time at Sunderland and lost his confidence, and thus why he was happy to be here as an understudy. But Steele is not some garbage reserve keeper, nor is Sanchez the finished article or world class.

Nobody will ask him to do more press ups, that's silly.

Having a couple of keepers contesting the jersey and one of them being called Steele makes me come over all nostalgic.

Keepers make mistakes like in the Palace game, but the goal conceded against Fulham was poor positioning and angles.

Every chance De Zerbi wasn’t happy with that.
