How good is this program currently on BBC 4.

Just had Gary Numan - Are Friends Electric and now Beat The Clock by Sparks

And now Phil Oakey and Human League - last saw them at the Dome and boy Joanne Catherall was a babe in waiting, I am sure I declared my undying love for her that night.

And the next time I went to the Dome...................

Last Saturday to see Julian Clarey no less

I saw the Human League at the Brighton Centre last year, she may have put on a few pounds but all those fond teenage memories of Joanna came flooding back:blush:

Shit missed it. Did they have any Depeche Mode. Saw Human League last year in Nottingham. Being Boiled played with images of Jim Jones in the back ground. Superb

Synth Britannia - as in synthetic Britannia, perhaps? Just reminded me how awful some of the sh*t we listened to in the 80's was, and how shallow Brit Pop was back then.....

Yes reference was made at the end of the programme to how bands and producers took this post punk sound of an experimental and brand new form of music and ended up packaging it up in a Stock Aikin Waterman sound. Which was then all washed away in an Oasis.

Even though I did not like certain bands like Depeche Mode, I liked Fox, Gadget, Kraftwerk and still listen to Eno's fine albums and found a foundness for the sound.

Being repeated on BBC Four now, well worth a watch if you missed it first time round.

I should add the pre-quel as the main event is at 2230

What was most noticable was how appalling the lead singers of all these bands were.

I really liked Messages when it was released but Andy McCluskey was the worst of the lot last night.
