They probably only asked for it last week as well. Still, I suppose you have to support Swansea to get any benefit so they could argue that they deserve it.

It's only a couple of years since they werein danger of dropping to the conference and didn't have a pot to piss in....how the hell have they managed to put a new stadium package together and get it approved in that short time?

Sorry-they don't have 200 selfish Little Englander fuckwits blocking every move:angry:

As it happens, the Jacks have been trying to get a new stadium sorted out for years. Several previous attempts have been abandoned for one reason and another, but it looks like this latest scheme is going to work out. And not before time. The Vetch is one of the poorest grounds in the league. The sooner it's gone the better for all concerned.

Looks like we've got new football stadiums popping up all over Wales. Not bad going for a Third World country.

:lolol: :p :lolol:

I drove past the new stadium a month or so ago. I find it hard to believe it's still 2 years from completion, as it looked almost there now.

Looked mighty impressive, too.

You should all remember land in Wales has a different value to anything that happens here in the South.

I am not having a dig at the Welsh - it's a simple fact.

I thought they were saying on Sky News that this will be Swanseas final season at the Vetch, and they'll be in their new stadium by the start of next season ? From the looks of it right now, I can't believe it won't be ready in a year. All the stands seem to be in place, it looks fantastic.

Good luck to them, but it still makes me absolutely pig sick when I see clubs like Swansea, Darlington and Hull building magnificent, state of the art 21st Century arena's, while we are a division or two above them and still stuck in the f***ing STONE AGE rotting away at a poxy athletics track.

Agree totaly, same reason alot of teams up north have cracking stadiums aswell, plenty opf room and the land is alot cheaper. Plus the councils also want to create jobs in the area.

Actually the one at Huddersfield, although near industrial estates, wasn't a brownfield site.
It has lovely trees and the river as a backdrop.

A very helpful council though.

In fairness to Brighton & Hove council (this pinko lefty one) they have been supportive throughout the Falmer bid and in our plans to return to Brighton (which was, not surprisingly, objected to by the party in blue).

Our problems all come from 200 village idiots (of the selfish blue rightwing Little England kind) aided and abetted by Lewes D.C. and it's people like these that continually hold Brighton and Hove back. Goldstone Ground! West Pier anybody? King Alfred? etc. etc.....Although we can't really blame Lewes DC for the demise of the Goldstone and King Alfred. Or can we?;)

Fair point Mr B but i still think more could have and could be done if the council really wanted to pull their fingers out and deliever to a city a first class sporting arena ... Why has swansea council helped by demolishing the old athletics track and putting new stadium there ... Why have BHA got to go it alone on funding it .. why cant the council deliver a multipurpose stadium not just for football ?...Not a moan just an observation and im certainly not against falmer as i see it asthe only true option at the moment for the survival of the club

Not everyone is getting a new stadium though.

From BBC:
Swindon stadium blow

Swindon say they need to leave the County Ground to progress
Swindon's hopes of building a 20,000-seater stadium in the west of the town were effectively ended on Thursday.
Councillors voted to keep a community forest at Shaw Park, meaning the club will have to look for a new site.

Robins director Bob Holt told BBC Radio Swindon: "It is going to be a bitter disappointment for us all.

"I find I'm just a bit shocked really that we weren't allowed to put in a proper proposal, but the council must do what they feel fit with the land."

The Shaw Park project met with opposition from the outset from some fans and local residents objecting to the loss of green space.

But Swindon chairman Willie Carson had pleaded for more time to make amendments to the proposal, which he felt could overcome the objections.

He has warned that the club needs to leave their current County Ground home "to move forward, not just simply survive".

Developers St Mowden say they would now like to approach the council and ask for alternative sites for the stadium.

Hello Seagulls!

Just some points regarding our new stadium...

20000 capacity with room for expansion - shared with the Swansea-Neath Ospreys Rugby team...

It's amazing how quickly it has gone up

It will be ready for next season - our final match at The Vetch will be on April 30th 2005 (my birthday:drink: ) against Shrewsbury...

We have been trying to get a new ground for over 20 years since the time that you and ourselves were in the old First Division in fact...

Our nepotistic Labour run Council has been nothing short of shite in that time and has treated the fans of both SCFC and the All Whites rugby club with contempt...

The stadium finally got rubber stamped after we had flirted with the Conference for 2 seasons - thankfully we survived and the ground is finally being built along with a host of other developments in the Swansea area to take the City into the 21st Century....The development site will include restaurants, supermarkets etc...

Too little too late by our Council and they were voted out at the recent elections - I would have thought a lot of Football and rugby fans would have put a cross in the Lib Dems box this time around :lolol:

The development site will include restaurants, supermarkets etc...

Best of Luck with Falmer....Hope it works out for you

We never thought our stadium would see the light of day - keep shouting for it!!

I used to live in Brighton a couple of years ago - Hannover Terrace.....If you saw a shaven headed loon staggering out of the station on a Saturday night wearing a Swans shirt that was probably me on my way home from a match....:drink:
