I liked our midfield today until the second half, where Cole seem to go missing.

We had that great passing movement let down by Ashlley Cole inability to trap a ball, we never tried it again which was a shame!

Well after that, if the penny hasn't dropped with Sven about the need for a holding midfielder, then it never f***ing will. That 1st half was superb, with a capital SOO. Swedes had nothing to lose in the 2nd and so piled forward accordingly, although all their threats were from set pieces. Hargreaves did everything that was askewd of him, and although I'd still prefer Carrick for his superior range of passing, the system Sven played just worked so much better.

It HAS to be the way forward.

You cannot move Beckham out of the position. The whole team are use to his set up of play from there.

Lampard/Gerrard can only be accommodated if he plays 4-1-4-1, which means Carrick or Hargreaves holding, Rooney as the lone striker, supported by Lampard/Gerrard/Joe Cole breaking beyond him.
