England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has warned that if the team are thrown out of next summer's European Championships he would reconsider his position.

England face Turkey in a crucial Euro 2004 qualifier next weekend and both countries have been warned if there is any trouble the sides face disqualification.

Eriksson said: "I've always been proud of the job that I have with England. But I will not know what to do if we are out of the European Championships.

"With no international football, what would I do? There is no meaning in going around looking at football players if you can't pick a team. I have no idea what job I would have.

"Any ban would be an awful disaster - not for just me, the players and the FA - but for all genuine England supporters."

He continued: "It is sad that before a game like this you have to talk a lot about security problems and why you can't take fans with you but that is the reality.

"Security must be more important than three points or no points in Turkey.
