Sussex - Overseas Player

Just had a call from somebody and it seems that Goodwin will not be classed as an overseas player. He is signing under the Kolpack agreement.

This means there is the opportunity to bring in another overseas player. Any ideas on who?

I would like a middle order player in the mould of say Chanderpaul, who can stick around and let others play their shots.

wherever the money is
Our biggest problem is that Moores has been told to cut the wage bill for players so we can not afford the world stars that will help win more trophies. If however we were allowedd i would love to see Tendulkar play for us. Not only is he the best batsman in the world IMHO but him and Mushy bowling spin would destroy most teams.

We'll get Crystal Gayle in for the 20/20s. He is arguably the best one-day batsman in the wirkd at present.
He is the best in my opinion, and his bowling is shit hot too, he's just so cool aswell, bring in Chris Gayle!!

:clap2:

However is Gayle the sort of overseas player they will go for? Current policy seems to be to get ones that are not playing international cricket, so we do not lose them. What is the Windies schedule next year?

Like I said, just for the 20/20s. The Windies can surely spare him for a few overs.

Nathan Astle - will never stay injury free enough for a county season. Can't see NZ allowing him to play anyway, they already hve enough injury worries. He would make a lot of runs though, and be quite a useful stock bowler.

i heard it was dippenaar, my godmother over heard a conversation saying it could be sourav ganguly. now that would be cool.

No way. Sussex is all about team spirit and Ganguly wants to be boss man. ...but he'd be a good call to replace Grizzly if he ever got fed up with test cricket.

Are we sure that Murray is qualified next season. I thought it was the season after that he becomes English, but then I can never keep up with the rules.

Im sure I read that Murray could be signed under Kolpack, as many clubs were going to bid for him at the end of the season. (Recall reading this from Martin-jenkins' column in Argus few weeks back i think)

Would love to see these top names play for Sussex, however would pose a great problem when internationals came around.

Is Mushy classed as English?

Mushy's not English, but Akram is.

Many clubs could bid for Murray at the end of the season anyway, he only had a one-year contract.

TLO, has he definitely signed? But the latest I'd heard is that he was still considering ithe contract and, from what I heard at the club on Friday, is unlikely to.
