Sussex- lap of honour at Withdean if they win the title?

Should Sussex achieve what was unthinkable back in April and win the County Championship, the players should be invited to parade the trophy round Withdean before an Albion game.

I'm sure the Albion crowd would be more than willing to celebrate the sight of yet another trophy at Withdean.

It depends when the title is secured (surely it's now a matter of when, not if), but I fancy the Sheffield Wednesday game on the 20th. Lets celebrate in front of a bunch of Yorkshiremen! Or maybe rub it in before our Lancastrian counterparts at the Blackpool game on 4th October.

Get on to the Albion now....

I have already asked Pin at SCCC whether he thinks it would be a good idea for a lap of honour (as I have already stated in the Cricket thread), and assuming we beat Leicestershire in time :lolol: , he thinks it a great idea. We just have to convince Kevin Keehan or Paul Rogers at the Albion.

Dodge hates cricket. I remember an interview where he stated that.

Unusual, most footballers seem to be cricket fans and a lot of them seem to be useful players.

It's nothing to do with the Albion players though is it? Anyway, they should be inspired by the achievement.

Just thought the cricketers would get a pretty warm welcome from the crowd. Especially as the average county championship match has a total attendance of about 8 people.

As has been said before, we didnt parade our 2 trophies round the County Ground.

An open top bus ride is a must though.
:)

Give Grizzly and the lads a lap of honour and a standing ovation!

I can't see them getting the County Ground deckchair occupants on to their feet - even when the championship is won, they'll only find out when they buy the Daily Telegraph the next day.

I remember the Albion parading Chris Eubank around the Goldstone once so why not the Cricket team around Withdean... If nothing else it should inspire the Albion players eh?

I was told on Saturday that it has already been discussed informally within club circles that if Sussex beat Leicestershire inside three days then they might be able to parade the trophy at half-time - don't think anybody has formally raised it with Sussex yet though - tempting fate and all that !
