We've won our first ever Championship.
We've seen Murray Goodwin post the highest ever score in the history of Sussex cricket.

And Oranjeboom prices drop to a pound a pint!

Well ... a lifetime's best performance by Jason Lewry (eight wickets in an innings) just about tops things off.

Mushy didn't appear until the presentation. A groin strain, apparently. And if anyone is entitled to strain his groin, it's Mushy!



Oranjeboom was a pound a pint. But still £1.30 a half. "We can't be bothered with halves", said the barman.

Fair enough.



Only thing to go wrong with the presentation was when, from the balcony, the ECB representative officially congratulated "Surrey County Cricket Club on their success". Pillock!

Rocket Man had been invited along to explode when the trophy was presented.

What topped things off was Surrey getting battered and Lancashire having the worst of it against Notts. Best counties indeed...

As Grizzly pointed out in his speech: since the divisional split, no team has won more games or more points.

He could have pointed that we have the smallest squad and only two overseas players (both Surrey and Lancs had three and some teams had four). It was a superb achievement.

Let's hope they can sort something out with Murray for next year and I hear they're after an Aussie with a Hungarian passport. Let's win it again next year and get to a Lord's final - it's been 10 years since the last one (and 17 years since we won one).

Jason Lewry gets 2 wickets in 2 balls and as a result is on a hat-trick. Surely this must be the longest wait for a hat-trick ball ever, ie the first game of next season !!!

At least he'll have a while to plan exactly the line and length he is going to bowl......

The thing is, even if he does get a wicket with his first ball of the new (retaining of the championship) season it won't be officially recognised as a hat-trick, as it happened over 2 different games. If it was the first & second innings of the same game, then it would be a legal hat-trick.
