Wimbledon boss Stuart Murdoch has emerged as a surprise contender for the vacant manager's job at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Murdoch has endured a difficult couple of seasons with The Dons, with the club having successfully moved from their traditional South West London base to the Buckinghamshire borough of Milton Keynes last month.

The acrimony surrounding the club's move to their temporary home of the National Hockey Stadium has taken its toll on performances this season, with Wimbledon five points adrift at the bottom of the First Division.

The club are likely facing a relegation fight this season and with Murdoch's home based on the South Coast, it is believed that he has applied for The Withdean Stadium post.

A number of names mentioned in connection with the Seagulls managerial vacancy - with Mark McGhee, Leroy Rosenior, Iain Dowie and Steve Cotterill all being mentioned for the post.
