Strategy to stay up

Don't panic, target the winnable games, stick with the experienced players who've been in tough battles before, keep looking at bringing in loan players like Whing, risk spending a small amount of money in the Jan window, fans keep turning up to Withdean to minimise the terrible financial losses there and allow Dick Knight some financial flexibility, stay loyal to the manager and stop looking for easy solutions.

Sounds simple put like that eh?

If we bring in loan players like Whing we'll be heading for the drop. He was f***ing shocking.

LI my friend, that will not work. In this league, there are FOUR relegation places. Targeting SOME games will not win us enough points to stay up. We need 55 points to be safe in this league, that's 41 more. Where are they coming from? To stay up, we need to put consistent home form together. That means taking at least a point from every home game, often all three, not rolling over like we have done recently. I agree with the backing the manager point, it's no good going mad at him after two games. He needs to be given AT LEAST another ten to fifteen before any judgments are made. He is working with the worst squad we have ever had at Withdean, and for that reason alone he has my backing for a long time yet. Where I also disagree is regarding the experienced players. I'm sorry, but every player we have over the age of 25 is utter shit. Carpenter is the main culprit, how he can continue to play is beyond me. Mayo, Butters, Hammond, and even Hart are very close behind. We have some ok youngsters, enough to make up say 4 or 5 members of the team, but we are crying out for a minimum of THREE experienced players still in a good condition, probably more. Until we have that, the team will continue to produce the turd they served up today, we will continue to lack any sort of direction, and we will continue to be played off the pitch by almost any opposition we face.

So drop all the over25s and rely on the youth? I wouldn't defend Carpenter's performance today, he couldn't influence a terrible team display. But I still think breaking out of the spiral will involve the old heads grinding out the wins by showing a bit of nous. That would be my percentage call.

Strategy to stay up-

stop conceeding soft goals and try to get a few shots on target would be a nice start don't you think?

The sad thing from my point of view is that we have some of the best young players the club has ever produced, the problem is that we are far too relient on them to get us results, it should certainly be the responsibility of the older members of the squad to provide the drive.

I don't think defence is our real problem, that may sound a bit odd as we keep leaking goals and losing games, I think that the main area needing improvement is midfield. You need to control midfield to win games, it is where your attacks are launched from and where the opponents are stifled out. We need to shake up the midfield and quick, that is the area I would look to strengthen immediately with a loan signing, then a permanent one when the transfer window opens again if it isn't already too late. Things may improve when Charlie comes back but none of us know if he will be back to his ankle biting best or a mere shadow of his former self.

hammond is not old

In the terms of our squad he is though. Although he's only 23 with over 100 games behind him he's certainly an old hand experience wise.

Sack wilkins and bring in a experienced manager

The right thing to do would have been to appoint a manager with Wilkins as assistant - too late now :shootself

My strategy for staying up! Dick Knight giving Wilkins the money to sign a spine. Dominant centre half, Contolling midfielder and a goal scoring centre forward. The rest of the squad are good enough to mould around them.
