Starbucks is just a waste of money, £4 odd for a cup of coffee and you all get is a half full cup :nono:

starbucks don't do coffee, they do coffee flavoured piss water

Never tasted original piss water so I'll take your word for it. As it is its overpriced I agree. Clearly you can fool a lot of the people a lot of the time.

Much better. In Starbucks I have to add an extra shot £2.34 a time. Cafe Nero - 2 hots as standard £2.00:clap2:

What annoys me about Starbucks ... no, I'll start again.

One of the many things that annoy me about Starbucks is the fact that a bog-standard cup of coffee (hot brown liquid, with a small quantity of cold milk) isn't listed as such on the menus that are on display.

If you want one, you have to ask for "Coffee Of The Day" - which itself suggests that this product will vary from day to day, no doubt at the discretion of someone in the higher echelons of the organisation.

But no. It's simply marketing-speak for bog standard.

And don't get me started on the misrepresentation of the delights of genuine Italian coffee that runs throughout the coffee chain industry.

Caffe Nero is the best of all the coffee chains imho. We have a great place in Worthing called the Coffee House and it does a fantastic fresh coffee at half the price. The food is good there too. I think the independents are better generally.

Starbuck's is coffee-coloured piss-water and expensive too.

But then, all chains are expensive.

I get my fix from a Portuguese cafe in Gray's Inn Road: large coffee a quid and it actually tastes like coffee too.

Generally speaking I always prefer independent cafes, bars, restaurants etc..

In Starbucks's defence, they do sell good quality coffee. 100% arabica beans rather than supplementing it with cheaper robusta beans that taste bitter like Costa do.

I think wherever you go, if they have good staff who know how to make good coffee, then it's good but so many places seem to have people who don't really care.

The worst place I have found is Coffee Republic in George Street, they over heat the milk till it's burnt, they have very poor hygiene standards and the staff are rude. That's when I object to paying £2 for a coffee.

BTW, I used to work for Starbucks, we had to pass an exam on coffee making and growing and our Manager won Manager of the Year in the Uk so I suppose we were lucky that we had high standards and that's why my view of Starbucks is good.
