I don't know where they keep their rollin stock, but to blame frozen couplings seems a little odd since the temp has been above freezing across the entire southern region for 24 hours.

Usually at various sidings, seems a poor excuse to me as well however I guess a reduced service has a better chance of running on time.

Just really pisses me off that when this happens there is no direct train to Victoria between 05:50 and 07:30 which is pretty poor on a working day.

most are kept on track just up from the station at lovers walk, the rest are in the shed being serviced overnight ready for the next days services

Yes, yes it is. Look, there are a hundred different reasons why couplings freeze. They could be full of shite, ice, god knows!!!!

The 0701 off Shoreham comes from Littlehampton, as does the 0711 to London Bridge. Stock for both is kept at Littlehampton so guess it is easy to drop the earlier Vic services as all punters can change at East Croydon - still a pain though as usually the 0711 off Shoreham is then standing room after Hove.
