Another one for Ken Clarke here. We need presence, respect and impact and I dont think the others can provide.

I like Ken Clarke - it won't happen in a month of Sundays but he'd be my choice. Osborne looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Holy crap Osborne could be chancellor! in all the hoo ha that particular horror had crawled out of my mind. If the Lib-Dems want to leave the economy to him then they are welcome to this coalition.

I cannot see it being Cable, the tories are the senior partner by some margin and will quite sensibly keep the big posts to themselves. I do wonder if Vince can see himself getting up to defend Osborne's budget in the House, that would be a pitiful spectacle.

Only on number of seats. This coalition has a 59% popular vote, of which the lib dema are responsible for well over a third, I think it would be very reasonable recognition of this if Cable was chancellor.

Clarke or Hague.

in fact it has been suggested Osborne will be shuffled off somwhere as the scapegoat for the less than convincing election, leaving the way open for Clarke into the Chancellor and in the event of coalition, Cable into Treasuary Secretary.
