Was reading yesterday's paper whilst eating my lunch and found this story:

Never too late

A one-hundred-year-old Cape Town man came within a whisker of winning the world record for the 100-yard sprint in his age group yesterday, but was defeated by faulty technology. Officials said Phillip Rabinowitz, 100, chalked up a record time of 28.7 seconds, demolishing the existing record of 36 seconds in his age category. But the record-breaking sprint was only verified by hand-held timers.

Electronic timers are required to secure world records, but officials could not get theirs to function properly. He is now determined to try again.
